Category: Competitions & Design ConceptsAbout
Sterling Barnett Little participated in a design study for the Department of Veterans Affairs for their newest and largest outpatient center in Arlington. The design encompassed a two-story, 275,000 square foot outpatient facility that includes a pharmacy, imaging, a pathology lab and canteen.
With an operational target date for the spring of 2013, the new Austin Outpatient Clinic, once completed, will be the largest free-standing clinic of its type in the nation with 184,000 square feet, three times larger than the current facility located at Montopolis Drive and Oltorf in Austin. With this additional space, the Austin Outpatient Clinic is slated to offer expanded VA services to Veterans in the Austin area, including Mammography, Gastroenterology, Imaging, Orthopedics, Urology and additional space for the Women’s Clinic as well as all current services. Other services to be considered for future expansion are Chemotherapy, Oncology , General Surgery, and Ear, Nose and Throat
The project includes site utilities, landscaping and paving for 1,200 cars. The facility was also designed to meet LEED Gold Standards.
