Welcome to our first Friday dose of THINK – a roundup of what’s dropped in the last several days, brought to you by SBL Architecture.

celebration of the @Pantone Color of the Year 2020 #ClassicBlue

Every year the Pantone Color Institute names a color of the year—a single swatch to accompany the global movements and trends that define us. 2020’s color of the year? Pantone Classic Blue 19-4052. “It’s a color that anticipates what’s going to happen next.” (see article here: Link)

So while we are looking forward to what’s going to happen next, we are also asking ourselves a simple question: What does Pantone Classic Blue 19-4052 look like to us?  The answer?  The Classic Blue 19-4052 will bring spaces that inspire lush, tranquil soundscapes, setting the stage for healing environments —a familiar design aesthetic that SBL Architecture is adept at creating.  Michelle Ogundehin of design mag Dezeen said Pantone “missed the mark” with its pick. She suggested a shade of green (like the ‘neo mint’ put forward by trend forecasters WSGN) would better reflect the “ecological story” and wider cultural agenda of today.

major development in transportation is making the news not only for the 2020 Olympics but also for the 2022 Winter #Olympics.

The first railway designed and constructed by the Chinese opened between Beijing and Zhangjiakou 110 years ago.  Today, the world’s first high-speed railway with self-driving trains became operational between these two cities.  This is a major project for the 2022 Winter #Olympics. Houston-Methodist hospital provides a rejuvenation station for employees.  The hospital installed a soundproof pod to help ER staff members de-stress.  Short videos are paired with music that can help bring blood pressure and heart rates down. (see article here: Link)
