Midland Health poised for success

It all begins with a concept.  The concept for the 9th floor renovation was developed pre-COVID, but evolved as the pandemic evolved.  As the virus spread, hospital administration behind the 9th floor project, which began as a med-surge patient unit, realized its enormous potential to establish a flexible and adaptable unit for use during the pandemic and for future use as a universal care patient unit. To accommodate those aspirations and address the scope changes, SBL Architecture worked alongside their trusted engineers to allow for a pandemic exhaust system that would cause each patient room to go from positive to negative pressure to create isolation rooms.  Through strong and effective communication, the team was able to meet this request, and the updated plan allowed the renovated floor to open at the perfect time. We’re grateful we were able to assist Midland Health with this important effort during this challenging time.

The project was recently highlighted on CBS channel 7 News Midland: https://www.cbs7.com/2020/11/07/new-covid-19-floor-opens-at-midland-memorial-hospital/
